Eolo Paul Bottaro is an Sicilian-Australian artist dubbed the “Renaissance man” for his devotion to seventeenth century painting techniques. Drawing upon art history and theories of pictorial harmony, Bottaro paints a world that sees myths continue to resonate with contemporary life.

Whether a raw chicken in the manner of a nude, an homage to Goya or vividly coloured landscape, Bottaro’s imagery unites personality, beauty and history. There is something sumptuous about his work, a European passion expressed beneath the Australian sun.

A winner of numerous awards including the Geelong Acquisitive Print Aware (1997 and 2011) and National Works on Paper, Mornington Peninsula Regional Art Gallery, he is also a Archibald finalist. His work is represented at the State Library of Australia, Geelong Gallery, Monash University and the City of Darebin Art Collection, among others.

For collectors of contemporary still life and landscape art, Bottaro is a compelling find.
